genie bra ~ The Good, The Bad, & The Facts..
By G.L.A.
Infomercials titled the Miracle Bra, Best Ever Bra!, Genie Bra, have been airing on several TV networks, and this bra has caused quite an uproar among many women. Some actually do consider it the best bra ever, while many others consider it nothing less than a horrible scam on unsuspecting women everywhere.
The infomercial begins with scenes of several women struggling with obvious misfitted bras. We are told that "you just know that most bras were invented by men", and we are then introduced to the show host, Jane Denoble, who looks pretty good in her blue dress under which she proclaims to be wearing a genie bra. Ms. Denoble then introduces Stella Riches.. 'fashion trend launcher', who tells us that the woven extra support comfort band eliminates band roll up. She also assures us that the everlast stretch fabric is intricately woven so that it moves with your body, provides support, eliminates unsightly top bulge, underarm spillage, back fat, and concern about uncomfortable wrong cup sizes. They also tell us that if one wears a size small shirt, she'd wear a small genie bra, a size medium shirt equals a medium genie bra, etc.. Wow! this does sound like a miracle bra.. and each of the several models of various body structures sure do look great in their new genie bras. We're offered not 3, but 6 bras for the price of 3.. just $59.99 + shipping for 6 bras.
So, after checking what few reviews we could find back in early April, we went online to order this miracle, and met up with our first delay.. the site didn't recognize our zip code.. ugh. OK, probably best to call them anyway.. We want to accommodate 36ddd (e-girls), and though the infomercial continuously emphasized this custom conforming bra is for women of all sizes, and showed a few 36/38dd girls, they did not specify any 'e-girls'. Neither did they show an actual size chart on the broadcast, so maybe it'd best to ask a real person about the size anyway.
The representative was very nice, and was fluently English speaking.. looking good so far. So she says that size large would be perfect for the 36e girls, and on April 4, 2011 we proceed with the order, after which she makes an un-refusable offer to sell us 3 of the 'lace-trimmed' bras, tells us that our order should arrive within 2-3 weeks, sends an order verification to our email.. and we began to wait.. and wait, and track, and wait, and finally checked reviews again. OMG! after reading more recent reviews, a cloud of buyers remorse settles in like a dark storm cloud.. then on May 18th another email arrives, stating that the order had shipped; see following..

Hmm.. that's odd. There was no mention of 'pads' in the infomercial, though I saw reviews that remarked about pads; wonder what that's about??
Finally, after another 10 days the miracle genie bras finally arrived on 5/28/2011.. Am I wrong in thinking the pony express would have been faster? am I wrong in thinking that for $31.97, shipping could have been faster than 10 days? ..am I wrong in wondering why it took more than 7 weeks to toss 3 pre-packaged bra sets into another bag? Maybe I'm just paranoid after reading those horrible reviews just one day before the bras finally arrived.
Skeptically the package is opened, and inside the tyvek envelope are 3 separate sets of 3 bras.. 3 each in white, black, and nude.. one set lace trimmed. A rather nice looking white bra that does look like the ones seen in the TV ad is removed from a bag. Yep, there are little 'pads' hidden within tiny pockets that open to the side of each 'cup', and again I wonder why these pads weren't mentioned in the ad.. but they do seem to ad shape. Having taped the infomercials, we watch it again; Nope, no mention of any pads.. and somehow, the bras don't look exactly the same either. The straps and band appear wider in the infomercial, and these cups look small, but let's see if they can accommodate the girls.. Immediately, the e-girls are struggling to find space within the genie bra cups, and the thin fabric also indicates the obvious reason for the pads.. whoa! everything shows through, especially on the white bra, and yes, these little pads definitely ad some shape.. And now we're wondering if XL might have been a wiser choice, but no.. the straps on this bra are a bit loose actually, so XL would be too big. Darn! we're also noting a slight 'uni-boob' look going on too... ugh, and some underarm spillage too.. but the back is smooth. OK, let's put a shirt on..
Well, not as bad as dreaded; not uncomfortable; too much jiggle though.. definitely won't be exercising, speed walking, or running in these bras!! What to do, what to do??? ~ let's put another bra on over the first one.. OK, this is better, but wait.. take the pad out of the inner bra, and leave the pad inside of the outer bra.. now this looks & feels better.. pull the inner bra up in front a bit to avoid front and side spillover.. feels a bit tight, but still smooth in back. Wearing two genie bras definately provides more support.
The bottom line.. I think this just might be a miracle bra for up to 36D girls.. maybe even the DD's, but no miracles here for the bigger 'girls' though. You'll need to wear 2 bras at once if you want any support, and worn alone these are casual sleep bras only..
As far as the genie bra claims, on a scale of 1-10, here's the marks..
For comfort, it rates a 9.
For support, it rates a 3-4.. sorry, just not enough lift!
For style, it rates a 6/7.. not bad looking, but lots of room for improvement.

Thanks for the review I almost bought that bra
Great information, and thanks for sharing! We have Infomercials for these bra's here in Sydney too. I thought they looked like you put it 'Casual sleep bra's' as for a larger bust they don't look like they have enough support, and I was wondering why the women wear more than one bra in the advertisements, now I know why! And how funny that they never mention the pads in the Infomercials! Really informative, look forward to reading more of your Hubs!
Thanks so much! As another 36DDD lady, I was uncertain ordering, wondering whether it would be worth the money for my size.
Now, I know it wouldn't be! I'm so pleased to have found a review I can relate to.
Knowing about that slowwwww shipping makes a difference to me, too. If a company is going to charge that ridiculous amount for shipping, the least they could do is be speedy!
Thank you, you just saved me some big bucks!
Thanks for the tips!!
Thanks for covering this. I saw the infomercial and thought about buying it. Waiting six wks to ship a package is outrageous. Another 10 days in transit. How do they get away with that??
Never purchase a bra without trying it on first. I have never had any luck with a bra looking like the perfectly formed model who is wearing it.
I feel you were taken advantage of big time. Apparently the model on TV was wearing something different than what they were selling or she also "stuffed" her bra with something other than herself.
Thanks for the informative Hub!
This bra rides up immediately. Feels like a tight band around my chest. Very disapppointed!
Your hub is well written, very informative and wonderfully funny and it just saved me a lot of money. I really enjoyed it. Regarding the process and handling fee cost, for $31.97 it could have been shipped overnight. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the information. I have thought about getting thesee.
Awesome Hub, and I'm so glad to find out that my family is not the only one that calls it the uni-boob! Won't be wasting my time or money with this one...
thanks so much for such in depth information. I saw this infomercial recently and considered buying the genie bra. I'm not interested in a uni-boob, so you've saved me and others alot of money, which in these economic times is much appreciated. I'm watching my 401K droop, don't need to watch my boobs droop too!!! Thanks
The genie bra is so complex. It looks uncomfortable and sticky. It is much better to buy bra in person to be sure of the material and the fit, and of course, of the fix price. Am glad you found a teeny-weeny humor in your situation.
$31.97 sure seems like a lot to ship something so lightweight. That alone seems like a rip off. Thanks for the info.
10 DAYS YOUR LUCKY MY MOM PURCHASED THEN OVER A MONTH AGO AND THEY HAVE YET TO SHIP STILL JUST SHOW PROCESSING...THAT IS BULL!!!
BUT SHE HAD ALREADY BOUGHT ONE AND LOVED IT SO HOPE THESE LIVE UP TO HER EXPECTATIONS....IF SHE GETS THEM :O(
thought i had found the holy grail of comfy bras. i actualy had my bank card in mysweaty little paws. thank god i looked at the revews. yes girls, im afraid the old adage is true, if it sounds too good to be true..........
Thanks so much for the info because, like madwummin,I was all set to charge my heart out! Thanks again.
Thank you for this very helpful hub on the Genie bra! I was going to order it...I am a 42 DD and have been searching for the perfect bra for years! I almost ordered one...then I saw the Ahh bra at Walgreens...the Ahh bra has commercials that are almost identical to the Genie bra...same idea...just order your shirt size and no matter what size cup you are...the bra is supposed to fit and lift and separate...I bought the Ahh bra at Walgreens because you could buy one instead of a whole package and it was only $19.99 and no shipping and handling. It doesn't have pads...I do love it...but it doesn't deliver the support of an underwire bra like it claims...but it is really comfortable and I will probably order the package of three...interesting...will anyone really ever come up with something like this that REALLY DELIVERS?
Well I guess I'm not getting one now! lol
Excellent hub, I was going to order this one, the infomercial was very well done and I thought perhaps this is the bra I have been waiting for. But after your investigation I will wait and see if they do an improvement and then perhaps reconsider. Thanks for the info, saved me from wasting my money.
Myself and my husband (a man who likes looking at boobs - who would have thought) were watching the commerical for this "bra" the other night - and we both said pretty much at the same time "no way this going to work". I never buy bras online - just like I don't buy shoes online - these items should be fitted correctly, with the help on an expert. That's my take on it anyway. Thanks for writing this hub and saving some of us girls a bunch of money and time.
I LOVE them...going to pitch all of my old bras with the exception of one uncomfortable "perkier" one for special occasions.
Thanks to all for your comments. It's obvious that the genie bra is great for some, far from great for others. No one can deny that they are comfortable... and perhaps by now, they've improved on delivery time. Shipping fees are still exorbitant though.
Just wante to post that I am very happy with this Bra. I am size B or C, and have wonderfull lift and looks good under t shirt... Maybe does not work for bigger girls. Anyhow, I tried it without pads and not good at all...
i brought the bras and am not please i try it on .and i thought they made me look flat . i wanted a bra that would had some lift . and yes you can see right thew it disappointed. was not worth what i paid for it
My mom ordered some and they were too small for her, so I inherited them... nothing thrilling. For a smaller chested woman they do nothing for shape or support, and i totally had the uni-boob. I'll wear them around the house... but agreed, not worth the hype!
like madwummin,I was all set to charge my heart out! Thanks again. http://www.ommrudraksha.com/category/62-rudraksha-
Bought mine at Bed Bath & Beyond Store 9/15/2011. Came in a box of 2, a nude color and a black. I'm normally a 38C, so got the Large like the chart recommended. 2 for 19.99, but I took that Bed Bath & Beyond coupon for $5 off, so came out to 2/$15 with tax. Great price!
The fit feels wonderful. Yes the band immediately rolls, but I don't care. I'm looking for comfort. Very slight side bulge, no back fat. Feels a bit like an excercise bra, and I can run and fast walk with good support. I had to take pads out because it felt like they pushed me backwards and hurt a bit. Don't need the pads. Weird thing is, when I washed them they have little fuzz balls all over them, "pillage". The bras seem to make me itch a bit. Still trying them out. $7.50 was a great price. Might get some for my sister for Christmas.
I have a positive comment - If you are less than a D cup you should at least try this bra. Buy a size larger than the chart suggests and get only 1 - on EBAY. If you get the right size for you = they are the best bra ever - the only drawback is that the nylon is not for 100 degree days - too hot!!
I admit these are comfortable but that’s because there is no support at all. I ordered three of these, tried one on and walked on the beach. I am a 38DD and I was flapping around all over the place. How can you even say they support the larger sizes, I get better support from my ex. These are flimsy and although mine were supposed to be padded they did not come with any padding and am not sure that would have made any difference. I need to know how to return. I was not satisfied with these at all.
i thought they were to good to be im 46DD and im sooo tired of being poked by my under wires that im getting desprite but im soo happy i looked here if there this bad i wanted to know
I dont see how this bra will make women who have a small B and non full looking boobs feel good about themselves. I just dont see how it will make the boobs look bigger or nicer if you have well.. flatter looking boobs after pregnancy!
Very comfortable, but you definitely nees the pads otherwise your boobs look like to flat pancakes in a sling.
This is a great review, I almost bought some, but thought I would wait until someone else did before spending money. I won't be buying any after this.
I am going to stay with a good sports bra, plenty of support there and at a cheaper cost too.
Thanks
I have wondered how one design could serve everyone of us out here in bra-land. Thanks for this really informative review. Well done, in every way. Voted up & useful
Thanks so much for your in-depth review.
Does sound like awful delivery time. Where has the world gone to?
This is one of the worse purchases I have ever made. No support at all. The bra is really hard to get on. The bra rolls up. I almost pull a muscle each time I try putting one on. I strongly regret the purchase of these bra's.
Thanks so much for the very detailed revuew. I am a size 12 shirt and wear a 36ddd(e), and because I am too large fir Victirias Secret, I usually purchase bras at Lane Bryant due to the cup size - but my size is rarely available and never on the sale rack...my usual bra purchase is in multiples and rather expensive, so I very nearly purchased this product today. Thanks again for saving people like me from spending time and money needlessly.
I've been very pleased with my genie bra purchase. I'm actually shocked by all the negative reviews.
i bought mine 3 days ago not good as constant roll up at front
Check to make sure you purchased the right size. You might find that a smaller size won't roll up.
